Apogee is actively seeking a Staff Accounting & Payroll Analyst to provide support to the Apogee Corporate Office in Colorado Springs, CO. The successful candidate will have strong communication skills, be self-motivated, and work both independently and in a team-oriented environment in support of HR and Project Control in addition to the primary Accounting & Payroll functions.

What you will be doing:

A/R Duties:

  • Performs day to day financial transactions such as processing incoming payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures, including verifying, classifying, computing, posting and recording accounts receivable data.
  • Prepares bills, invoices, and bank deposits, submits invoices in a variety of formats, reconciles accounts receivable ledger to ensure that all payments are accounted for and properly posted and verifies discrepancies and resolve client billing issues.
  • Setup Excel invoicing schedules upon receipt of new contract award. Adjust invoicing schedules as needed based upon receipt of contract modifications. 
  • Add contract invoice data from new invoicing schedules to Excel monthly invoicing summary.
  • Facilitates the payment of invoices due by sending bill reminders and contacting clients.
  • Generates the financial statements and reports detailing accounts receivable status.

Payroll Duties:

  • Maintains compliance of all applicable policies, rules regulations and laws and stays abreast of legal and regulatory and policy developments affecting areas of responsibility.
  • Designs workflow procedures and strategies to optimize and improve the payroll system.
  • Manages payroll reconciliations and accrual analysis.
  • Oversees accurate collection of data and reporting of Federal, State, and Local payroll taxes.
  • Processes bi-weekly and monthly payroll for 200+ staff in multiple states by adding new states as necessary, entering employee status changes, entering data from the timekeeping system and adjusting payroll for non-regular adjustments.
  • Maintains and updates validation and data tables.
  • Compiles summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages.
  • Determines payroll liabilities, process 401k and HSA contributions and generate upload reports.
  • Interfaces with auditors and vendors.
  • Ensures processing and distribution of W-2's on an annual basis. 
  • Resolves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
  • Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests.

What you will need to have:

  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or Accounting
  • 5+ years of prior work experience in Payroll
  • High Level skill in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Advanced Excel
  • Experience interfacing with ADP, QB, WAWF/iRAPT and GSA ITSS & CPRM, and FINCEN
  • Prior government contracting or project accounting experience is desirable.
