Apogee is actively seeking a full-time Senior Communications/Navigation Engineer supporting the Combat Rescue Helicopter (HH-60W) program office at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, OH. Apogee provides Systems Engineering, Interoperability Engineering, Cybersecurity, Acquisition Management, Logistics, Configuration Management, Acquisition Intelligence, and Technology Transition to support Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) acquisition programs. This position requires a Secret (S) security clearance eligibility.

Communications/Navigation Engineer, Senior

  • Assist with providing systems and avionics engineering support and technical expertise in the areas of requirements generation, systems design and integration, development, modification, test, airworthiness, production, sustainment, deployment, operations, and divestiture as required.
  • Provide technical expertise in maintenance systems integration, design-to-test, integrated diagnostics, and electronic support equipment.
  • Interface with other system acquisition elements, higher headquarters, DoD, government laboratories, industry, universities and assist the government by providing knowledge and guidance and producing artifacts where required in areas such as Systems Integration; Operational Safety, Suitability, and Effectiveness (OSS&E); Airworthiness Certification per MIL-HDBK-516C; Safety per MIL-STD-882; and AFI 63-1201, Life Cycle Systems Engineering. 
  • Understand tactical communications and data exchange protocols. 
  • Provide advisory assistance in the development, deployment, and maintenance of training systems, to include modeling and simulation.

Qualifications

  • Secret security clearance, US citizenship
  • ABET-accredited Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline (highly desired)
  • MS in relevant discipline preferred
  • 10+ years of experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD)/Air Force programs
  • USAF weapon systems acquisition experience
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel and especially Power Point) and other standard (Customer specified) applications
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Acquisition/programmatic documentation experience
  • Experience with MIL-HDBK-516C and the USAF Airworthiness process (desired, not required)
